Biometric modality: Gait – key considerations
Gait features can be recorded by cameras/sensors at some distance (tens of metres) and the process is non-obtrusive and therefore does not require the cooperation of the subject. This has raised concerns that the technology, in common with other biometric modalities that can be captured at a distance, has the potential to be used for surveillance purposes without the knowledge of the subject (Refer to the Biometrics Institute Good Practice Framework B.2.1, C.1.1/2/3/4 and B.5.1).
