Biometric modality: Keystrokes – what is it?
The actions involved in typing on a keyboard can be used to identify the typist once a reference session of their typing has been recorded for comparison. Individual keyboard operators can be differentiated by characteristics such as the time taken to select, depress and release certain keys or sequence of keys, the underlying dynamics and rhythm of the keystrokes, the dexterity of each hand and common recurring errors.
